Who runs this

Aquariumpro is built and maintained by Karim, an aquarium hobbyist. It is a solo project, not a company and not a storefront. There is no team, no investor, and no parent site. When something on here is wrong, there is exactly one person to email about it, and that email goes to a real inbox.

Why it exists

Planning a tank means answering the same questions over and over. Will these two fish get along? Is my tank big enough for a school of them? What temperature and pH do they all overlap on? What happens to the bioload if I add three more?

The answers are scattered across forum threads, species databases, store pages, and printed books, and they often disagree. Aquariumpro pulls the numbers into one place, then does the arithmetic for you. The tank builder is the point of the whole thing: drop species into a tank and watch the compatibility, stocking, and water parameter checks update as you go, before you spend money at the fish store.

What is on the site

• A species reference. Fish, invertebrates, plants, and corals with size, tank size, water parameters, temperament, diet, and care notes, alongside licensed photography credited to the photographer.
• A virtual tank builder. Pick a tank size and water type, add livestock, and get live compatibility warnings, a bioload estimate, and an overlap check on temperature, pH, and hardness. It runs in the browser with no signup.
• Written guides. Longer articles on cycling, stocking levels, water changes, algae, aggression, and specific species, written for people who are still deciding what to do rather than looking up a number.

How it stays free

The site runs advertising. That is the only revenue it has. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored species entries, and no paid placement: nothing on a species page or in the builder changes because somebody paid for it. Ads are kept off the builder entirely, because an interactive tool is a bad place for them.

How the content is made

Aquariumpro aggregates data from public biodiversity and hobbyist databases, and the written descriptions are drafted with AI assistance from those sources rather than copied from them. That is worth being upfront about, so it has its own page: how we source and write this. It also explains what we do when we get something wrong, and how to tell us.

One caveat

Care information here is a starting point, not the last word. Animals vary, tanks vary, and local advice from someone who has kept the species you want is worth more than any database row. Use this to narrow things down and to catch mistakes early, then check the specifics before you buy.
