The short version
Aquariumpro is a read-only reference site. We don't have user accounts and we don't sell your data. We do run ads through Google AdSense, and Google uses cookies to serve them. The advertising section below explains what that means and how to control it.
What we collect
Like most websites, our web server logs standard request information:
- IP address and approximate region
- User-agent (browser and OS)
- Pages visited and timestamps
- Referring page, if any
These logs are used to debug problems, block abuse, and understand which pages people find useful. They are retained for a short period and not sold or shared.
Cookies and advertising
We don't set advertising or analytics cookies of our own. Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site as a CDN and security layer, may set a cookie used to tell real visitors apart from automated traffic. That one is required for the site to work safely and is not used for advertising.
We show ads through Google AdSense, and Google along with its advertising partners uses cookies and similar technologies to serve those ads, measure whether they worked, and limit how often you see the same one. Depending on your settings, ads may be personalized using your prior visits to this site and to other sites.
You can control this:
- Turn off personalized advertising in Google My Ad Center
- Opt out of third-party ad cookies at aboutads.info or Your Online Choices in Europe
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings
Google explains what it collects from sites that use its services in its own notice.
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland
Before any advertising cookies are set, we ask for your consent through a message provided by Google, which is a consent management platform certified under the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework. You can consent, decline, or open the manage options screen to make a more specific choice about individual purposes and vendors.
If you made a choice earlier and want to change it, you can do that at any time, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it in the first place. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized: chosen based on the page you are reading and your rough location rather than your browsing history.
The legal basis for advertising cookies is your consent. The legal basis for server logs and the security measures described above is our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and protecting it from abuse.
You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to complain to your national data protection authority. Because we have no user accounts and keep only short-lived server logs, there is usually very little to retrieve, but write to us and we will tell you what there is. The data controller for this site is the site operator, reachable at the contact address below.
Third-party content
Images shown on the site are served from our own servers. Ads are served by Google from Google's servers, so loading a page means your browser also contacts Google. When you click through to an external link (a photographer's portfolio, an external reference site, etc.), that destination site has its own privacy practices.
