Every photograph on Aquariumpro belongs to its original creator. We do our best to credit them accurately and to respect the terms of each image's license.
Where our photos come from
Species photography is aggregated from public, credit-required sources, primarily:
- iNaturalist: Creative Commons observation photos by citizen scientists
- Wikimedia Commons: CC-licensed and public-domain images
- GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility)
- Flickr: photos explicitly licensed for commercial or non-commercial reuse
- Encyclopedia of Life: CC-licensed scientific media
- Tropica (aquatic plants) and Corals of the World (coral reference)
- SeriouslyFish and The Aquarium Wiki: educational hobbyist databases
How each image is credited
On every species page, beneath each photograph, you'll find the photographer's name (when available) and the specific license the image was released under (CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC BY-NC, CC0, public domain, or educational fair use).
AI-generated illustrations, where used, are clearly badged as such and are not photographs of real specimens.
Are you the photographer?
If you recognise your work and would like the credit corrected, updated, or the image removed, please reach out. We will respond promptly and act in good faith. No photograph stays on the site over its creator's objection.
