About this strain
Grass guppies have a caudal fin peppered with tiny, evenly distributed spots — much smaller and more uniform than Mosaic — resembling blades of grass or a fine dot matrix. The spots should be consistent in size and density; sparse or coarse patterning is a sign of poor strain maintenance. Body coloration is typically plain or lightly colored to keep focus on the tail. Grass tails on a large delta or fantail are spectacular under light. They're a popular show variety and one of the more technically demanding patterns to breed true.
Origin
Grass patterning was developed as a distinct strain by Asian breeders, with Japanese hobbyists in particular refining the fine-spot standard through the 1980s and 1990s.
