About this strain
The Black Moor is a telescope-eyed goldfish in deep, velvety black — the combination of protruding eyes and the dramatic matte-black coloration is what sets it apart visually from all other telescope variants. The black pigmentation can fade to bronze or orange-gold as the fish ages or in warm, bright conditions; some keepers consider this a flaw, others find the color shift interesting. Body is egg-shaped with full double fins. Care mirrors other telescopes: gentle filtration, smooth décor, no nippy tankmates. One of the most widely available fancy varieties in the hobby.
Origin
Developed in China and later popularized in Japan and the West. The Black Moor became one of the most commercially distributed fancy goldfish varieties globally throughout the 20th century.
