DaVinci Ocellaris Clownfish

Amphiprion ocellaris

About this strain

DaVinci Ocellaris were named for their artistic, painterly banding — the white stripes break up and reconfigure in complex, almost geometrically interesting ways that sit somewhere between a Picasso and a Snowflake. They typically show substantial white coverage with pattern elements that look intentional and structured rather than random. The orange body color is usually retained more than in Snowflakes, giving a better color balance. It's a gorgeous designer morph that photographs beautifully. Captive-bred, reef-compatible, and no more demanding to keep than a standard Ocellaris. One of the more visually sophisticated of the patterned designer strains.

Origin

Developed by ORA (Oceans, Reefs & Aquariums) in Florida through selective breeding of patterned Ocellaris lines. Released commercially in the late 2000s to early 2010s as part of their designer clownfish program.
