Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish

Amphiprion ocellaris

About this strain

Snowflakes carry heavily expanded white bands that blob outward into the orange body, creating irregular snowflake-like splotches of white across the flanks. The pattern variation between individuals is massive — some show mostly white bodies with orange islands, others have a more balanced split. Unlike Picasso, the Snowflake mutation tends to push white coverage more uniformly across all three band positions. Grading is just as important here; higher-grade fish are worth the premium for display tanks. Completely compatible with anemones and standard reef setups. A staple of the captive-bred designer trade.

Origin

Developed through selective breeding programs in the United States in the early-to-mid 2000s, with multiple breeders contributing to the strain. The exact originator is debated, but it became commercially widespread through dedicated Ocellaris breeding operations.
