About this strain
A solid, rich golden-yellow fish from head to tail — deeper and more saturated than the yellowish tones seen in other gold variants. A top-quality specimen under full-spectrum lighting looks almost metallic orange-gold. Unlike Gold Dust Molly, there's minimal or no black pigmentation; this is a uniform color statement fish. The intensity of color is directly tied to diet and water quality — feed quality foods with natural carotenoids and keep nitrates low to maintain the richest hue. Pale or washed-out 24-Karat Mollies are usually a sign of a bad rack at the fish store.
Origin
Developed through intensive selective breeding in the Southeast Asian aquaculture industry, primarily in the 1990s–2000s, as a companion to the Gold Dust strain targeting the ornamental trade.
