About this strain
Pure white body, often slightly translucent near the belly, with clear or lightly pigmented fins. Unlike Silver Molly, White Mollies lack the metallic iridescence — the coloration is flat, chalky white, which reads as very clean and elegant in a well-planted or black-substrate tank. Many White Mollies are leucistic rather than true albinos, so eyes are typically dark. They can be harder to find in good condition than black or dalmatian varieties because any scale damage or fin nipping shows immediately against the white. Worth paying extra attention to fin integrity when selecting. Generally peaceful and hardy.
Origin
Developed alongside other color-selected P. sphenops strains in commercial aquaculture, with stable white strains documented in the hobby since at least the 1970s. Origin is broadly attributed to US and Southeast Asian fish farms.
