In the wild it attaches permanently to hard substrate and gets on with life in cooler, lower-light environments, which shapes how you need to approach keeping it at home. Its common name hints at a sprawling, mat-like growth form, and the Mediterranean connection gives it a certain novelty for hobbyists looking beyond the usual Pacific fare.
