The growth habit is naturally bushy and vertical rather than strictly prostrate, so keepers looking for an ultra-flat carpet may need to put in a little extra effort. One of the more interesting techniques experienced hobbyists use is physically pressing the carpet down during routine maintenance, which encourages the plant to stay compact and spread laterally rather than shooting upward. Good lighting really does make a difference here. Under lower light the stems tend to etiolate and the carpet loses its tight, full appearance. This plant sits comfortably in the intermediate care category, not because it's fragile, but because getting the best results requires attention to light levels and periodic hands-on management.
